Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
Perennial favourites on the World Jr. stage, Team Canada has won an astonishing 16 gold medals since the IIHF World Under-20 Championship began in 1977. Originally purchased from Hockey Canada, this Team Canada mask was worn by goaltender Josh Harding in the 2004 tournament, and it’s been signed. An Itech model with all padding and strapping intact including face mask, identifiers have been screened-on, with a cloth label from Itech affixed to the back headpiece strapping. Featuring exceptional graphics, “Canada” appears above the forehead, with gorgeous images of the important Canadian maple leaf on each side, and over the chin guard section. Harding has signed along the top portion in thin gold marker including his number, and the signature displays well.
A handwritten notation of “HC-03-01” has also been placed along the interior, with manufacturers stickers still present including a “Certified Type 1” usage example, along with an Itech factory paint label. Light-use is exhibited on the highly desirable mask, with some abrasions and chipping to the paint on the forehead section, along with a few other random marks.
