The NHL’s 1st overall pick in the 2001 Entry Draft, Ilya Kovalchuk has previously spent 11 seasons in the NHL, including 8 of those with the Atlanta Thrashers. The Russian superstar is currently skating with SKA St. Petersburg of the KHL. This Thrashers jersey was worn by Kovalchuk in 2002-03, and it’s been photo-matched. Size tagging is affixed to the collar, with NHL and KOHO crests on the bottom hem and back necklines respectively. Featuring the familiar Atlanta team crest, the “Blue Set 1 Regular Season” jersey has been embellished with dual-colour tackle twill numbers and name-on-nameplate, along with matching alternate patches over each shoulder. A MeiGray patch numbered A00370 sits on the inside hem, with a matching LOA to accompany.
Game-wear on the V-neck sweater includes board burns over each sleeve and pilling, along with two team repairs near the right elbow. Regarding the previously mentioned photo-match, Getty image #1633611 from Oct 31st 2002 vs Toronto has been matched to the placement of the KOHO patch along the back neckline, to the threads at the bottom and top of the "1" on the left sleeve, and to the placement of thread in two spots along the top left section of the "H" in Kovalchuk on the nameplate.
