One of only eight players all-time to score 70 goals in a season, Bernie Nicholls would finish his lengthy 18 seasons with over 1200 points. From an extremely important milestone in his career, we have the Ontario native’s 1993-94 New Jersey Devils jersey worn while securing both his 400th goal along with his 1000th career point, and it’s been photo-matched. A singular size 52 fly tag remains affixed along the collar, with embroidered CCM and NHL crests on the back bottom hem. Featuring the team crest in use throughout most of the 1990s, the well-used “1st Set” garment has also been accented with dual-colour tackle twill numbers and name-on-nameplate. The team patch sits on the inside hem along with the cut fight strap. We should also note that the jersey sports customized sleeves. A signed LOA from Nicholls will accompany.
Heavy use is exhibited on the important garment, with a number of stick marks on the lower front along with numerous additional dark marks over each sleeve. Board burns are also present along with a few spots of red goal-post paint transfer around the elbow sections. There are also a few repairs to the customized sleeve cuffs. Nicholls has signed the back “9” along the top section in black marker, and the signature display’s well. Regarding the previously mentioned photo-matches, the jersey comes with 7 high resolution numeric photos showing the matches. We have a photo matched to the series of black marks located at the lower right area of the team crest, and to the big black mark at the lower left of the team crest just above the red stripe, while the next photo has been matched to the loose threads on the #9 on the right sleeve. The third photo has been matched to the series of black marks on the lower left front hem, and to the two unrepaired cuts nearby in the red stripe. Lastly, we have a photo that shows the customization on the right sleeve, but it’s not high resolution enough to call a definitive photo-match. Nicholls scored his 400th career goal on Oct 31st 1993 against the New York Rangers.
