Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
Canada’s premier play-by-play man for decades, Foster Hewitt coined what's arguably hockey’s most famous slogan, with “He shoots, he scores!”. This lot contains a Czech media pin that was given to Foster while traveling with Team Canada for an exhibition game against the Czechs on Sept 30th 1972, for the purpose of identifying him as a member of the media. We also have two pairs of cufflinks that belonged to Foster and most likely originate from the ’72 tour as well, with one pair having a lion motif, while the other pair features Sweden’s Tre kronor. At just over ½”, the media pin pictures a radio tower encompassed with text, while the reverse has “Zukov Prahaxl”. Just light wear is visible along the lower front, along with some very light wear to the reverse. Both sets of cufflinks remain in gorgeous condition, with some heavier wear/discolouration to the metal of the “lion motif” pair. Housed in an 8 ½” x 5 ¾” x 1 ¾” jewelry box owned by Foster’s son Bill, 3 LOAs will accompany these wonderful items.
