Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
This attractive hardcover book was issued to recap the 1932 Winter Olympic Games that took place in Lake Placid New York. At 8” x 11”, the heavy 294 page volume features navy boards with the design of an embossed angel along with the Olympic rings in gold, with “III Olympic Winter Games Lake Placid 1932” gilded below. Produced for the dual-purpose of “the complete story of the Lake Placid Games and the plans for staging them” along with a “detailed history of the development of the winter-sports movement in Lake Placid”, a number of interesting articles and photos are present including the team’s that participated in the hockey matches, with Canada, the US and Germany. Tightly wound and complete, the vintage publication exhibits rubbing to the boards, especially along edges, with the gilt worn on most of the front cover’s lettering, and totally worn away along the spine. There is also some fairly heavy toning that has taken place to the interior.
