Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
Affectionately known as ”Moose”, Hall of Famer Mark Messier remains the only athlete in professional sports to captain two different teams to championships. This lot contains a stick used by the Edmonton native in the mid-to-late-1980s, while with the Oilers. A Sher-Wood 9030 Feather-Glas model, “Messier” appears on the upper shaft along with “11”, with an obscured marking, possibly a date-stamp, on the underside just above the heel. The stick retains the tape original to Messier on the oddly curved blade and on the handle and knob. Light but definite use is exhibited on the lumber, with wear along the bottom of the taped section of blade, along with just a few marks to the lower shaft.
