Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
Formerly King’s College, the University of Toronto Varsity Blues Hockey Team began life in 1891, icing a number of notable players over the years including Conn Smythe - who would bring the team’s blue and white jerseys to his new Maple Leafs franchise. This U of T game-worn jersey originates from the early-1970s. A tag from General Athletic Products sits on the inside hem, with the durene v-neck jersey styled with tackle twill back and sleeve numbers along with a maple leaf team crest placed over a capital “T”, both in twill. Game-wear includes some pulls and stretches to the fabric along the lower front. There is also some pilling near both elbows along with a few small holes. A small stain, possibly blood, is present on the white striping band on the right sleeve. We should also note that the bottom hem along with the back “9” have loose threading, with an area of the hem completely unraveled. There is also an additional stain centered on the lower front band.
