Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016

With the early parts of his career spent with defunct relics California and Cleveland, goaltender Gilles Meloche would be remembered for a lengthy stay in Minnesota, finishing his career with the Penguins in 1988. This Pittsburgh jersey was worn by the Montreal native between 1985-87. Cooper tagging is affixed to the collar, with embroidered Century Sports and Cooper crests on the back bottom hem. Styled with heat-pressed numbers and a screened-on team crest that was in use until 1991-92, “Meloche” has been screened-onto a sewn-on mesh nameplate. The garment also features custom-shortened sleeves along with a loop-style fight-strap. A signed LOA from Gilles Meloche will accompany this great jersey.
Game-wear includes a few random marks present, including two larger examples on the right sleeve. There are also two team repairs, with a large example on the front beneath the team crest, while the other sits on the left sleeve in the black striping band section.
