Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
The 5" by 7" photos of four hockey legends who pitched the Wonder Bread Sports Club during the Original Six era are offered here and bring forth the story of how consumers could join the club by sending-in five bread labels and an application form from a grocery store. A photo like these, featuring facsimile autographs, were among the items a new member would receive. The picture of Gordie Howe along with one of Maurice Richard feature multiple top-to-bottom vertical creases, while a duplicate of the Rocket has more subtle creases. Two of Bobby Hull and two of Dave Keon display better, with a small light crease or two detected upon inspection. Joining the desirable 50+ year old collectibles is a French version of a nice crease-free membership card, with the original owner's name penned in blue ink and also featuring the facsimile signatures of club "directors" Richard and Keon - cool!
