Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
This lot contains a pair of Springfield Indians programs (7” x 10”) from the 1941-42 season, and each has been augmented by multiple signatures. The first program originates from a match against the Providence Reds, with “Bun” Cook coaching for the Reds and Eddie Shore in the line-up for the Indians. The back cover has been signed by 15 in pencil, with only a few signatures appearing slightly faint. Included are deceased HOFers Bun Cook and Frank Boucher. The second program originates from a Cleveland Barons contest, with Bill Cook coaching for the Barons and Eddie Shore in the line-up for the Indians. Signatures include deceased HOFers Bill Cook and Jake Milford. Both programs remain in beautiful, supple condition, with just a few minor creases and toning. An LOA from Classic Auctions will accompany.
The first above-mentioned program is also signed by Ab DeMarco, Mike Karakas, Norm Calladine, Eddie Bush, Jack Shill, Windy Steele, Oscar Aubuchon, Jack Forsey, Gabby Sherwood, Art Shoquist, Ab Collins and Hugh Gustafson. The second one is also signed by Joe Jerwa, Bill Beveridge, Art Giroux, Herb Foster, Fred Robertson, Norm Locking, Les Cunningham, Bill Mackenzie, Don Deacon, Walter Melnyk, Dick Adolph and Joffre Desilets. Notorious for the rocky relationship between the players and team owner Eddie Shore, the Springfield Indians of the AHL would perennially ice teams for 60 seasons between 1926 and 1994.
