Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
Produced as a 240 card set in 1983, the Hockey Hall of Fame postcards featured inducted members, with the cards being noteworthy due to the inclusion of a number of the game’s earliest stars. This lot contains original artwork by noted collector Carleton McDiarmid for four of the postcards from the set, including Frank Fredrickson, Harvey Pulford, Alf Smith and Billy Gilmour. Extremely vibrant and colourful, the unique mixed medium depictions on artist board all measure roughly 15” x 20” (the Fredrickson is 12” x 18”) and picture each respective player in both full body and portrait poses. All four remain in gorgeous condition, with working notations present. The Fredrickson example also has tape residue along the reverse edges, while the Gilmour work has an added piece along the top border, adhered with clear tape.
