Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
Issued the season before a Calder Cup win in 1967, we have a collection of 9 different Pittsburgh Hornets American Hockey League standard player’s contracts. At 8 ¼” x 16 ¼” when unfolded, each program was filled out and dated in October of 1965, and they’ve all been either signed or stamped by then-AHL secretary Jack Riley. We have contracts for Bob Cunningham, James Cardiff, George Harris, Norman Beaudin, Murray Hall, Albert Marshall, George Gardner, Dennis Kassian and Albert Marshall. The majority exhibit just expected fold lines along with areas of toning, and the odd folded corner. The Pittsburgh franchise was originally the Detroit Olympics, with the team relocating to Pittsburgh in 1936 and playing in that capacity until 1956. The team reappeared in 1961, playing until folding in 1967 due to the expansion of the NHL.
