Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
A publicist, Director of Communications, Road Secretary and Special Advisor… these were all areas that Camil DesRoches excelled at for the Montreal Canadiens. Beginning in 1946, he would stay with the club in one area or another for 47 glorious seasons. This lot contains items that all originate from the intriguing gentleman’s personal collection, including Canadiens’ lapel pins, cufflinks, a tie clip and watch fob, along with Stanley Cup pins for 1986 and 1993. Next we have a presentation lighter with “Old Timers 1954” still in its box and unused, followed by a second lighter with wooden base featuring a Habs logo affixed, along with a pair of Forum ribbons, probably from the 1950s. Lastly, there is also a pair of plates, a wallet, a paperweight and a few other trinkets.
The jewelry and Stanley Cup pins all remain in pleasing condition with little wear, while the scarce Forum ribbons both exhibit a few light fold lines as well as glue residue along the top sections. The plates include a 6 ¼” example with a Habs logo in full colour, while the second plate (9 ½”) contains text along the underside that states in full “Offert par la Ville de Montreal a Camil DesRoches Coupe Stanley 1965”. The wallet features generic hockey players along with crossed hockey sticks, with an image of the Stanley Cup on the reverse, and it remains in excellent condition, showing very little wear.
