Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
Seeing action in just a pair of WHA seasons, the Los Angeles Sharks managed to finish 3rd in their first campaign, losing to the Aeros in the Quarterfinals in 1973. This equipment bag originates from the club. Solid red canvas with leather reinforced sides along the bottom portion, a tag from Atchison Leather in Kansas remains affixed to the inside seam. The Sharks logo can be seen on one side in black, along with “17”. Bill Young wore the #17 jersey in the first season of 1972-73, with Tom Williams donning it for the Sharks final season of 1973-74. The bag shows heavy use, with fading to the fabric, along with a number of small holes scattered about. The stock certificate measures roughly 6 ½” x 14”, and its numbered 1. Completely blank, no areas have been filled in, and the certificate remains in beautiful condition with just some toning, ideal for display.
