Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
Prominent Canadian makers out of Montreal, Daignault and Rolland produced sporting goods for decades, with their D&R “beaver” logo familiar to many collectors. This lot contains 10 different catalogs showcasing the company’s wares, with examples from 1933, 1934, 1935-36, 1936-37, 1937-38, 1939-40, 1040-41, 1941-42, 1942-43 and 1955. Top-of-the-line hockey goods are pictured throughout, along with a few other assorted sports items like boxing gloves. Condition ranges, with the earlier examples in lower grade than the later issues. Most remain complete and intact, with the odd dog-eared page.
The 1933 catalog has detached front/back covers that have been affixed with tape, along with creasing, surface wear and a section of loss on the right hand side of the cover. The generic players pictured on the cover are actually borrowed from an image of Ranger’s Bread liners Bill Cook and Frank Boucher (the same image is used for the 1934 catalog). The 1934 catalog exhibits creasing with a large vertical example, along with some spine wear. The 1935-36 catalog has a few cover tears along with heavy wear to the spine, and it features neat football equipment including leather helmets. The catalogs range in size from roughly 5” x 7 ¼” to 6” x 9”.
