Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
Some beloved past Maple Leafs are featured in this neat lot, with 5 different signed and framed 8” x 10” photos from Johnny Bower (2), Borje Salming, Eddie Shack and Ace Bailey. The Bailey example is actually a signed Leafs schedule from 1991-92 that has been mounted with a modern print. 1) Johnny Bower. The first Bower signed photo pictures the Prince Albert native in a happy dressing room moment with Leafs teammate Terry Sawchuk. Bower has signed over his image in blue marker, with the photo matted and framed to final dimensions of roughly 13 ½” x 15 ¼”. There are some scratches to the frame to note. 2) Johnny Bower. The second offering from The China Wall features Johnny making a save during a game as the crowd looks on. Bower has signed across the white mesh of the net in black marker, and the signature displays beautifully. Nicely matted, the photo has been framed to total dimensions of approx. 13 ½” x 15 ¼”. 3) Eddie Shack. Pictured in game-action against the Rangers, Eddie has signed beneath his image with a large and flowing blue sharpie signature, with the photo matted and framed to final dimensions of 14 ¼” x 16 ¼”. 4) Borje Salming. The star Swedish defenceman is pictured in game-action assessing the play. He’s added a large felt marker signature beneath his image, with some fading taking place. Nicely matted, it has been placed in a thick frame that measures out to roughly 16 ¾” x 18 ¾”. We should note a few blemishes are present on the frame. 5) Ace Bailey. An 8” x 10” image of the Hall of Famer has been placed in a 16 ½” x 22 ½” frame with a name plaque beneath and two Maple Leafs pins above. A signed 1991-92 schedule sits centered above the photo, with a beautiful blue marker signature. The frame itself does exhibit just a few tiny marks. An LOA from Classic Auctions will accompany.
