Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
A powerhouse in gridiron competition in the early-20th century, the Carlisle Indian School can claim not only icons Jim Thorpe and “Pop” Warner, but also the best all-time record for any defunct college football program. This first edition copy of Fabulous Redmen has been signed by the legendary Jim Thorpe. The author John Steckbeck has signed on the front end paper along with a personalization, with Thorpe adding a strong and flowing signature below, “Me Too, Jim Thorpe”. The book itself remains in pleasing condition, with toning to the interior along with some wear to the dust jacket, especially along the spine. Thorpe received All-American honours in both 1911 and 1912. An LOA from JSA will accompany this Thorpe signed book.
