Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
Relics of the highly cherished Victorian age, these 19th century ice skates allows one to venture back and reminisce about life and sport when hockey was just a burgeoning pastime in it’s infancy. Finished wooden bases with solid steel blades, each skate features “June 1852” patent dates stamped into the bases, with the maker “N.C. Sanford” appearing on the underside along with “No. 9”. Despite considerable wear to the bases and blades and with no original hardware present, the skates display beautifully, with the attractively curled blades terminating in tight inner spirals.
