This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
Author Charles Coleman's three-volume "The Trail of the Stanley Cup" is a definitive history of hockey and Lord Stanley's trophy from 1893 to 1967. Only 1,000 copies of this special edition of the first two books were presented to important hockey figures; the third was limited to 1,500 books. The books in this complete set are individually numbered: Volume 1 is no. 317, with a “George Mackintosh” presentation bookplate, Vol. 2 is no. 464, and Vol. 3 is no. 1394. The highly sought-after books are in their original black slipcases with gold-colored images of the original Stanley Cup printed on one side.
The books remain in excellent condition along with the slipcases for Vol 1 and 3, while the slipcase for Vol 2 has a few horizontal crease lines across the surface. Vol 2 also has a clear plastic dust jacket that is in rough shape.
