Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
From arguably the most celebrated team in baseball history, we have World Series programs that all feature the New York Yankees. Six programs are included, with a pair for the 1958 Series, a pair for 1961 and a pair for 1962, along with a scorecard for 1962, scored for Game 3. The ’58 Series saw the Yankees defeat the previous season’s Champion Milwaukee Braves in a tight-fought seven games, while the ’61 World Series against the Reds would only go five games, with the M&M Boys leading NY to their third Championship in six years. 1962 would see the Yankees celebrating their 20th Championship in team history, defeating the San Francisco Giants in a closely contested seven games.
We have examples for both venues for the 1958, 1961 and 1962 programs, all unscored. All of the 6 offered programs are roughly 9” x 12” or a bit smaller, except for the 1958 County Stadium and 1961 Crosley Field examples that both measure roughly 8 ½” x 11”. All of the offered programs remain in pleasing condition with normal handling wear along with the odd unobtrusive flaw, such as toning, light creasing, surface/spine wear, cover dings, and fading. The 1962 scorecard remains in very nice condition, with just the odd tiny crease/wrinkle present.
