Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/1/2022
Joining an elite NHL group that now numbers 45 players, on October 30th, 1975 at Boston Garden, Johnny Bucyk poked one past a sprawling Yves Belanger of the St. Louis Blues to score his milestone 500th NHL regular season goal, taking place in his 1,370th game. Only 6 players before him had reached the plateau including teammate Phil Esposito the previous season, along with Frank Mahovlich, Gordie Howe, Bobby Hull, Jean Beliveau and Maurice Richard. Bucyk retrieved the milestone puck from behind Belanger and had it mounted on a sheet of aluminum emblazoned with the image of the important goal being scored above the headline "John Bucyk's 500th Goal vs. St. Louis, 10-30-75". Displaying beautifully, the aluminum sheet has been mounted to a plush red background, framed to approx 17” x 23”. The puck with rubberized Bruins logo has become detached, with residue remaining on the puck and on the display, with a few additional marks to the aluminum sheet and wear to the frame. Hockey history at it’s finest! An LOA from Classic Auctions will accompany.
