Dominion Champions of Canada in 1938, it was the fifth Grey Cup win for the Toronto Argonauts and the second consecutive for the team originally formed by the Argonaut Rowing Club of Toronto in 1873. At just 1” in length with an approx. weight of 3.30 grams, the diminutive charm features a 10K gold football with highlighted seams with “Argonauts Dominion Champions 1938”. An extended piece above including hanging loop has “RAC” in two-tone blue, which symbolizes the colours chosen by the rowing club honouring the Ivy League schools of Cambridge and Oxford. The original recipient “J Minguay” is stamped on the back, along with “Bailey 10K” placed above. In excellent condition, this seldom seen charm will highlight any advanced CFL of Grey Cup collection.
With the Argonauts being the oldest name in use in professional North American sports, we should note that this was the first back to back Grey Cups the Argos won, with the 1938 game taking place in Toronto on December 10th, where the Argonauts handily defeated the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 30-7. A split ring for attachment to a bracelet will also be included.
