Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
The 1977-78 WHA All-Star game pitted the defending champion Quebec Nordiques against a team of All-Stars from the remainder of the league. This 1977-78 WHA All-Star jersey was worn by Bobby Hull. Gerry Cosby along with size tagging remains affixed to the collar of this mesh jersey, with “Hull” and the numbers fashioned in tackle twill. All the remaining identifiers are rubberized, including the team crest and the stars scattered throughout. With just light use exhibited on the garment, we should note that Serge Bernier who was playing for the Nordiques at the time, was gifted this jersey by Hull as a token of their friendship after the game. In excellent condition, we must stress the importance Bobby Hull played in the success of the WHA, as it was his original million dollar contract that gave the upstart league immediate validity. A pair of LOAs will accompany this Hall of Fame sweater, including one from Serge Bernier.
