Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
This Calgary Flames jersey was worn by both John Tonelli and Ed Beers during the 1985-86 season, and it’s been photo-matched to both! We should first point out that the jersey was worn by the pair…at different times. It’s may be fairly large, but it’s not that large! Maska Ultrafil and “85 07” born-on date tag remain affixed to the collar, along with an embroidered CCM* patch on the bottom hem. With dual-colour tackle twill numbers and name-on-nameplate, the sweater exhibits nice use, with a ton of dark marks on the lower front and both sleeves. There are also board burns with small resulting holes, and 4 team repairs, with 1 on the front, 2 on the right sleeve and 1 on the left. An LOA from the Flames will accompany.
As mentioned, this jersey has been photo-matched to both John Tonelli and Ed Beers. First worn by Beers before being traded to St. Louis, there is evidence of a former nameplate as Tonelli wore the garment after Beers. Photo-matched to Ed Beers from a number of black marks on the back of the jersey, and to a black mark on the right shoulder which also shows on a Tonelli Getty image photo. There are also a number of black marks on the team crest that are showing on photos of both Beers and Tonelli, that are now mostly washed-out on the jersey.
