Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
Never-seen cast iron figural statue from the former Soviet Union was produced to commemorate the CCCP's participation at the 1964 Olympics and World Championships held in Austria. The Soviet Union would capture the Olympic gold in 1964, which also represented the IIHF's World Championships during Olympic years. Weighing in at a whopping 5 pounds, the statue towers to a height of 14 inches to the tip of the raised stick. The black-painted statue features a celebrating player with CCCP on his chest and number 16 on the back of his jersey. The maker's name is stamped on the bottom along with the 1964 year designator. This style has never before been offered in the hobby and we surmise it was produced in very low quantities, perhaps given as an award. In excellent condition with original removable stick.
