Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
From a very special occasion in The City of Champions, we have this Edmonton Oilers jersey worn by Petr Sykora to celebrate one of the city’s favourite sons, Mark Messier. February 27th 2007 saw the hopeful at Rexall Place witness Mark’s iconic “11” raised to the rafters, where he would join other Oilers legends who have received the same honour, including Wayne Gretzky, Paul Coffey and Grant Fuhr. With Elite Sportswear and size tagging affixed to the collar, there’s also NHL and Reebok patches on the bottom hem and back neckline respectively. The all-important Messier patch resides over the right breast, with the garment finished in beautiful multi-coloured tackle twill.
Worn during the first and second periods, game-use on this retro-style Messier night jersey includes just a few light marks on the lower front. A MeiGray patch numbered D08480 sits affixed to the inside hem, and a matching LOA from the Oilers/MeiGray will accompany, along with a second LOA.
