Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
The first player from Labrador and Newfoundland to have his name engraved on Lord Stanley’s hardware, Dan Cleary is currently playing for the Grand Rapids Griffins of the AHL. This pair of helmets were worn by Cleary in the 2009 Stanley Cup Finals, and they’ve been photo-matched. Identical Easton models in home and away colours, both retain their interior padding, strapping and visors. Red Wings decals grace each side, along with “11” on the back bottom. Both feature the 2009 Stanley Cup Finals decals in the back lower right corner. Each show nice use, with marks and scratches present to both the helmets and visors.
As mentioned, these Stanley Cup Finals game-worn helmets have been photo-matched. Getty Image #88087327 from May 31st 2009 has been matched to the mark/scratch in the Red Wings sticker on the left side ear of the red helmet, while Getty image #88437178 from June 9th 2009 has been matched to the marks/wear on the Red Wings sticker on the left side ear of the white helmet.
