Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
Presidents’ Trophy winners with a record of 51-17-10-04, the 2002 Detroit Red Wings made quick work of the Hurricanes in the Stanley Cup Finals, winning their 10th Cup in 5 games. This Detroit Red Wings alternate captain’s jersey was worn by Nicklas Lidstrom that very season. With size 52 tagging in collar along with screened-on “2”, there is also NHL and CCM patches on the lower hem and back neckline. Finished in attractive tackle twill numbers and letters, this “2nd Set” garment has the back name sewn directly onto the jersey. The rubberized team stamp resides on the inside hem, while the original team-store price tag remains attached to the tagging in the collar.
With dark marks on the lower front including on both sleeves, there are also a few boards burns present along with 3 large team repairs over the right elbow. We should also note that a “2” has been screened-on just above the collar tagging. In beautiful condition with nice wear present, this sweater worn by a Hall of Famer during a Stanley Cup winning season should garner serious consideration.
