Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016

Taking place at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, the 2011 Winter Classic featured both Pittsburgh and Washington, with each team playing in retro-style jerseys. This Pittsburgh Penguins retro jersey was worn by Chris Kunitz in the warm-up, and it will be accompanied by an LOA from the NHLPA. With size tagging in collar, there are also embroidered NHL and Reebok patches on the front and back necklines. Styled with attractive dual-colour drop shadow numbers and name-on-nameplate, the garment also sports the 2011 Winter Classic crest over the right breast. Finished with a gorgeous felt 1967-68 style team crest, the sweater pays proper homage to the Pens inaugural season.
With no visible game-use, the jersey remains in beautiful condition and is ideal for display. The Penguins team patch remains affixed to the inside hem, and a MeiGray patch has also been placed just above the hem. As previously mentioned, according to the MeiGray population report, this garment was worn by Kunitz in the game’s warm-up. Addendum; take notice that the embroidered letters "eng" of "Penguins" on the team crest are missing but you can clearly see the stitching outline of where they were. Getty image 107834598 from the Penguins' December 31st 2010 practice shows this jersey hanging behind Kunitz in the locker room with the aforementioned missing letters showing on the photo.
