Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
Mario, Mario, where art thou Mario?...and will thou be a gem mint 10?! Yes, we sure are having fun offering up our consignors’ splendid whack of unopened packs, with more fun, fun available to the high bidder here. Mario Lemieux’s coveted rookie card is of course the prize in O-Pee-Chee’s 1985-86 issue, with pack size being reduced to seven cards, along with a sticker insert, but remaining at 35¢ each. Other notable key cards in the reduced set, (down to 264 from 396), are those of Al McInnis (RC), Gretzky, Lemieux League Leader, Yzerman, Neely, Gilmour and Lindbergh Memorial. Cards on the box bottom began in ’85-86 and this one features the panel with Lemieux, although we spot a crease along the top edge. With Pat Lafontaine on the box’s top, where a 4” vertical crease is spotted, the enticing brick is sealed by Baseball Card Exchange’s shrink wrap, with the firm’s identifying stickers and certification number on the bottom.
