Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
Two important components to the New York Islanders early-1980’s dominance, in this lot we have game-used sticks from John Tonelli and Brent Sutter, and they’ve both been multi-signed by Stanley Cup Champion Islanders teams. The Tonelli stick is a KOHO model from the early-1980s, with “Tonelli” stamped-on, along with handwritten “27”. The original tape remains on the stick and it exhibits heavy use, with wear to the blade along with puck marks and abrasions on the lower shaft. There is also wear and loss including cracking to the surface mid-way up the shaft. The stick has been signed by 13 in ballpoint including Bossy, Nystrom, Lane, the Sutter brothers and others. Most signatures show fading. The Sutter stick is a CCM PPLM 1001 model from circa-1982, with “Sutter” stamped-on, and handwritten “21”. The stick retains its original tape jobs, and it exhibits good use, with plenty of wear along the blade and puck marks on the lower shaft. The stick has been signed by 13 in red, black and blue ink, with most signatures showing slight fading, but remaining very legible. Signers include Potvin, Bourne, Gilles, Nystrom, Langevin, Lane and Duane Sutter.
