This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
An Alberta native who spent parts of six seasons with Vancouver, Rick Rypien signed with the Winnipeg Jets in 2011, but sadly never joined the team, ending his own life after a long history of suffering from clinical depression. This lot features a Winnipeg Jets “Rick Rypien” warm-up jersey worn by Jacob Trouba, and it’s been photo-matched. With Reebok and size tagging in the collar, there’s also Reebok and NHL patches on the front and back neckline. This garment also features the Rick Rypien patch over the right breast in proper tribute, complete with “Rypien” nameplate on the reverse. Worn in the pregame warm-up, there is no discernible game-use present. An LOA from the Jets organization will accompany.
As mentioned, this sweater has been photo-matched. Getty image #465684875 has been matched to the loose thread at the bottom of the "Y" in Rypien, and to the small loose thread near the top edge of the right side of the nameplate. We should also note that the Jets team patch remains affixed to the inside hem, with this garments particulars listed, and according to the team LOA, this jersey was worn on Jan. 28 2014.
