An instant Bee Hive Group 2 photo collection of men who proudly wore Montreal’s red, white and blue is up for grabs here, with the black and white(!) bonanza featuring the Habs’ Hall of Fame-laden lineup. The likes of the Richard brothers, Beliveau, Bouchard, Durnan, Harvey, Johnson, Lach, Moore, Olmstead, Plante and Worsley are joined by lesser (but more valuable) lights such as Red Berenson (black script), Tod Campeau, Doc Couture, Gilles Dube, John Hanna, Charlie Hodge (black script), Frank King, Eddie Litzenberger, Ross Lowe and George Robertson, the latter re-glued onto a red backing and having become half-detached. Carveth and Reay photos are also on colored backings, with only a half dozen others on suspect-looking (replacement) mats. Condition is consistent with the rest of our consignor’s Group 2 stash; backings exhibit light corner/edge wear and the odd light crease here and there, but overall display well with unsightly flaws kept to a minimum. We spot a horizontal crease in the Durnan photo, while a heavier crease is in the backing of the Grant Warwick ensemble. We would say slight trimming to the backing of the tougher Berenson variation and that of Vern Kaiser is to be aware of. Canadiens collectors who have often thought of acquiring a Bee Hive collection but didn’t want to get involved in the lengthy quest to acquire over six dozen will want to seriously consider this hoard. The only two not included are rare variations of Gilles and J.C. Tremblay, offered in individual lots. Go Habs Go!
