From Al Arbour to Howie Young, this terrific all-Black Hawks batch of Bee Hive photos features the men who brought patrons to their feet at Chicago Stadium and who captured Lord Stanley’s coveted prize in the spring of 1961. A scarce picture of Bobby Hull wearing number 9 is one of the prizes here, with a small light crease in the backing and a hint of a scotch tape stain on the reverse of the latter to be aware of. The lineup of more valuable examples includes Frank Brimsek, Joe Conn, Forbes Kennedy and Jim Peters, along with the scarcer variations of photos of Len Lunde, Al MacNeil, Chico Maki and Bob Turner. No unsightly condition issues are to mention, with light corner/edge wear to the backings and an intermittent crease here and there. They’re in what we like to refer to as nice collectible condition, with problem-free backs (no writing). We spot half a dozen or so with suspect-looking and likely replacement backings, with five glued on either red or blue backings; Jim Conacher, Hamell, Henry, McCaig and Mosienko. Photos of stars who will bring back fond memories for longtime Chicago fans include Bentley, Gadsby, Hall, Hay, Lindsay, Litzenberger, Mikita, Olmstead, Pilote, Rollins, Vasko and Wharram. They help make for a Black Hawks’ lover’s delight and await their new appreciative home.
