Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
Longtime collectors of forever-popular Bee Hive Group 1 photos will be familiar with the images here, but most surely won’t be able to say they’ve seen this sensational and captivating advertising sign – what a piece! The St. Lawrence Starch Company of Port Credit, Ontario promoted its Bee Hive Syrup and Durham Corn Starch by offering free hockey pictures in exchange for proofs of purchase, with labels from its Ivory Laundry Starch also accepted and mentioned here. On thick, thick, sturdy cardboard, the shocker measures 20” by a tad over 25” and pictures Hall-of-Famers Cowley, Drillon, Broda, Apps and Schriner across the top, with the poses of HOFers Brimsek, Lynn Patrick, Clapper and Blake also present and joined by those of Mac Colville, LoPresti, Egan, Chamberlain, Mowers and Quilty. “ALL Players! ALL Teams! 120 PICTURES” are mentioned as being available. The only such piece we have ever seen, it displays beautifully, with tack holes spotted upon close inspection. The ultimate complement to a Bee Hive photo shrine this museum-worthy rarity will be. Fantastique!
