“Oh my!” and “Whoa!” will likely be some of the reactions of both longtime pursuers of Bee Hive Group 2 premium photos and those who have often thought that owning them would be swell, but were always scared off by the colossal task of acquiring all that exist, upon learning of this sensational, years-in-the-making assembly. Highlights of the thought-provoking accomplishment are plenty and include some twenty down right rare examples. The famous Don Simmons error, picturing 10-game NHL/Bruins’ goalie Norm Defelice, leads if we begin with teams in alphabetical order and is followed by Chicago representatives Murray Costello and Al Rollins (vertical). Jim Conacher in a Red Wings uniform and pictures (with light backgrounds) of Canadiens Gilles and J.C. Tremblay are also on the want lists of many, with New York’s toughest Larry Cahan example also present. The Toronto Maple Leafs’ contingent stars George Armstrong (Captain – light background), Jack Bionda, Phil Maloney, Eddie Shack (light background) and the oh so coveted and rarely seen oversized team photo which is spellbinding. The photos of NHL trophies, led by the pictures with four white borders, also contribute to the beauty booty. Dozens and dozens of other tough and semi-tough pictures are detailed in team lots, with condition also examined and reported in various individual and group listings. We can say here that the vast majority of the over 500(!) premium photos are in what Bee Hive collectors would consider nice collectible condition. Light to moderate corner wear to the backings is spotted, along with near mint ensembles. Replacement backings and re-glued photos are not inexistent but are at minimal proportions. Please visit our website for further details of this jaw-dropping jackpot. The only known Group 2 pictures not present here are Detroit’s Fern Gauthier (as Gerry Couture) and Maple Leafs Wally Stanowski and Don Metz, with a Metz photo included here looking to be a Group 1 example on a blue backing. As you'll see, we've divided up the collection into 27 lots which will be the object of separate bidding. Thus, to take home the entire collection, a bid will be required to be placed that is superior to the sum of the 27 lots that comprise the collection. Good luck with rarely-offered and exceptional hobby opportunity.
