Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
Killer batch of hockey card display boxes here dates back to the good old 1970s and the 10-cent-a-pack era and is led chronologically by a ’74-75 WHA box featuring an image of Tony Esposito. Like the rest, it has been folded/flattened but could be restored to its original form or close to it. Other boxes originally housing 10-cent packs are NHL (Trottier RC year) and WHA affairs from ’76-77. Boxes from both leagues and from ’77-78 saw packs bumped up to 15-cents each, the same as with an NHL box from ’78-79 and the Mike Bossy rookie card year. Four displays from the 1980s complete the stash, with Wayne Gretzky and Peter Stastny pictured on boxes from ’82-83 and ’83-84 respectively, both originally containing 25-cent packs. Clark Gillies, on an ’84-85 box and the image of Patrick Roy’s RC on an ’86-87 display are also present, with get this, each die-cut box top section still intact – sweet.
