Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
From two of Broadway’s memorable backstops in the early-to-mid-1970s, we have game-used sticks from Gilles Gratton and Gilles Villemure. Both Northland models, the Gratton example features “Gratton” stamped on the upper shaft along with pattern number, and the original tape jobs on the blade and knob. Game-use includes wear to the taped section of blade, along with edge wear to the paddle. The stick has been signed by 11 on the shaft, including Gratton, Hodge, Esposito, Gilbert and others. The Villemure stick is a Custom Pro model, with the original tape on the blade and upper shaft with “Villemure” stamped on. A Gerry Crosby store supplier stamp appears on both sides, somewhat hidden under the tape on the upper shaft. The stick shows heavy use including wear to the heel section, along with additional wear to the paddle including loss and cracking.
