Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
Terrific twig handled by the talented Alex Ovechkin during the games of the 2010 World Ice Hockey Championships held in Germany. Russia would battle all the way to the Gold Medal final, falling 2-1 to the Czech Republic. The CCM stick has the OVI 8 graphics high up on the handle with a lengthy red grip tape knob accented with a couple of wraps of white plastic tape. This Pro Stock example has the factory specs stamped down near the blade indicating a whippy "75" flex. Inventory labels are attached in a couple of spots and hold the date "24 May", probably added the day after the tournament closed. Game use is obvious and the black rubbing on the white blade tape is a conclusive photo match to an action shot taken during the Worlds that reveals a close-up of Alex's blade. This one is a keeper! Comes with a letter of authenticity and a digital image of the photo match.
