Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016

The Montreal Canadiens had a stranglehold on the Stanley Cup in 1960. They won their fifth Cup in a row in the spring and were getting ready to defend it that fall when the lucky holder of this Canadian Pacific dining car menu got it signed by 19 Habs, including deceased HOFers Jacques Plante, Doug Harvey, Jean Beliveau, Tom Johnson, Boom Boom Geoffrion, Kenny Reardon and Toe Blake! The blue ink ballpoint pen got passed around to Dickie Moore and Henri Richard, to make it nine members of the HOF who have signed on the right centerfold page of the 11 1/2" x 9” menu along with the likes of Backstrom, Talbot, Provost, among others. Comes with an LOA.
Don Marshall, Marcel Bonin, Bob Turner, Bill Hicke, Andre Pronovost and trainer Andy Galley have also signed along with Cliff Pennington, who played four games with the 1960-61 Canadiens. The date “Oct 2 1960” is handwritten on the bottom margin of the signed menu page. A name is retraced over another name on the top of the front cover of the four-page menu, which is very nicely preserved and crease-free other than a few at the bottom corner of the spine.
