This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
Remembered as the greatest games ever played between Eastern and Western hockey powers, the 1972 Summit Series is highly collected to this day, and items from the event are always in demand. This coin commemorates the historic event. At 2” in diameter and fashioned in bronze, the coin’s front features a centralized embossed laurel wreath with the participant’s flags above, and “Hockey Canada 1972” below, flanked on both sides with engraved “Canada vs USSR”. The reverse pictures an embossed member from each squad locked in battle. In excellent condition with normal wear and a few small scratches present, the coin currently resides in a small removable lucite holder that shows associated handling wear.
