Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
Fresh off an early-1978 merger with the ailing Cleveland Barons, the 1979-80 Minnesota North Stars would finish with their first winning record in seven years, and they would go on to upset the mighty Montreal Canadiens in the playoffs in seven games. This North Stars jersey was worn by Glen Sharpley that very season. With Stall & Dean tagging along with small “9” date tag in collar, there’s also evidence left of a Steichens Sports Equipment tag that once sat on top of the S&D tag. Featuring the vintage drop-shadow North Stars team crest with dual-colour tackle twill numbers and name-on-nameplate, the v-neck mesh sweater also includes an intact loop-style fight strap.
Game-wear on the vintage jersey includes a few dark marks on the right sleeve and at the bottom of the team crest, along with 3 team repairs. One large 3” repair runs downward from the middle of the collar to the top of the team crest. The other 2 repairs are present on the front lower band. We should also note that the hem on the left cuff has begun to unravel.
