Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
Decorative hockey pieces are highly desirable, as they can add a touch of elegance and refinement to any collection or display. This lot contains three signed limited-edition 10” Gartlan plates from different issues, and one 8 ½” unsigned. The first features a montage of Gordie Howe images arranged in a timeline. Gordie has signed on a darker section in gold, and the signature is flawless. The next 10” plate features images of Bobby and Brett Hull, with both signing again in gold next to their respective image. The last signed collector plate features Wayne Gretzky with a small cameo of Howe, and both have signed near their image in gold sharpie.
All plates are in excellent condition with no unsightly chipping or crazing taking place. The Gordie Howe plate is entitled “Power Play”, and it’s been hand numbered on the reverse 120 out of 2,358. The Hull family plate is “Hockey’s Golden Boys”, and it too has been hand numbered 926 out of 950 produced. The Gretzky/Howe plate is aptly titled “The Great One” and its edition has been limited to 1,851, with this example being number 698. The last plate that has not been signed features Gretzky again, it measures 8 ½”, and it’s numbered 2732 out of 10,000 produced.
