A remarkable career truly Hall of Fame worthy, Ed Belfour would leave hockey a two-time all-star, with a Calder, a pair of Vezina Trophies, four William Jennings and a Stanley Cup Championship. He’s also an honoured member of both the Hockey Hall of Fame and Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame. This lot contains the pads Ed wore while both securing his 484th win, and playing in his last NHL game on April 6th 2007. They have been photo-matched from October 7th 2006 to April 1st 2007, guaranteeing they were worn for the complete 2006-07 season. Also included are game-worn pants and a stick used during the 2006-07 season, as well as a pair of skates matching the type Ed used while with Toronto and Florida. An LOA will come with this lot.
As mentioned, the pads have been photo-matched. The matches are as follows; photo-matched to Oct. 7th 2006 (Getty 72212994 - numerous marks on both pads) Oct. 20th 2006 (Getty 72231746 - marks on left pad) Nov. 2nd 2006 (Getty 72542943 - marks on right pad) Nov. 24th 2006 (Getty 72691523 - numerous marks on both pads) Dec. 19th 2006 (Getty 73022488 - numerous marks on both pads) Feb. 14th 2007 (Getty 73373889 - numerous marks on both pads) Feb. 27th 2007 (Getty 73574936 - numerous marks on both pads) April 1st 2007 (Getty 73763914 - numerous marks on left pad – Ed’s second to last NHL game). The Reebok pads have “Belfour” embroidered onto each near the outside bottom, along with cloth patches for maker extraordinaire Lefevre. Crafted from leather and canvas, they show a ton of use, with a number of black marks present throughout. There is also some rubbing to the leather as well as a few spots of red goal post paint transfer. The Reebok stick has the original tape on the blade and shaft, with additional tape on the handle just above the paddle. Stamped “E. Belfour #4”, the stick exhibits plenty of use including numerous puck marks present along the front side of the blade, and red goal post paint transfer to the upper shaft and taped section of blade. The pants which are also made by Reebok show good use, with a number of marks and abrasions present. Lastly, the skates were produced by CCM, and they are void of their blades. With good game-use showing, each skate has Ed’s customary eagle on the molded boot section.
