Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
The only player ever to see action in six decades, Gordie Howe spent a full quarter-century in a Red Wings uniform. This lot contains three different jersey’s signed by Howe including a Houston model, as Howe spent four seasons with the WHA club, as well as a regular Detroit example, and a second Red Wings jersey with Gordie’s stats that have been nicely embroidered onto the garment just above the back hem.
First we have Howe’s Red Wings “stats” jersey. With just size tagging in the collar, the garment sports full tackle twill adornments. Gordie has signed in the back “9” in silver sharpie with his Mr. Hockey moniker, and a sticker from PSA/DNA has been placed at the bottom of the number. Next we have a Houston Aeros example. With K1 tagging in the collar, the white garment features tackle twill name and numbers along with matching stars on each shoulder. Gordie has signed in the back number in silver sharpie, again adding his famous moniker. With the signature displaying well against the dark background, a hologram from Tri-Star numbered 3033799 has been affixed beneath the signature. Lastly, we have a white CCM Red Wings example. With tagging in collar present, there’s also an additional CCM patch embroidered onto the back neckline. Howe has signed in the same manner as the other two sweaters in silver sharpie, once again adding his “Mr. Hockey” nickname. A hologram from Tri-Star has been affixed at the bottom of the ”9”, and it’s numbered 3034403.
