This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
The Ontario Hockey Association presented this tray in 1925 to William Abraham Hewitt in recognition of his 22 years of service to the association as its secretary. Hewitt, who was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1947 and died in 1966 at the age of 91, was the father of legendary hockey broadcaster Foster Hewitt, who is also a member of the HOF builder’s category. “Presented by the Ontario Hockey Association to W. A. Hewitt” is engraved on the top edge of this heavy and solid tray and “In recognition of his services to the association as secretary since 1903 5th Dec. 1925” is engraved on the bottom edge. Comes with a Hewitt family LOA.
This historic tray that dates back 90 years displays numerous surface scratches from obviously proud use as a treasured Hewitt family heirloom.
