2005 saw a new car and a new team for Jacques Villeneuve as he joined the Sauber Petronas team and drove the team’s C24 car along with teammate Felipe Massa.
This helmet, a Bell HP3, was the 6th helmet issued to Jacques for the 2005 season and was painted in Jacques’ traditional design by Bell S.P.O.R.T.S. Europe and is labeled “HP3 – 2005/06 Bell Helmets” and “Painting Bell Racing Europe”. The helmet also has both the United States and Italian flags on the back signifying the United States and Italian GP’s. The helmet was originally used during the United States Grand Prix weekend but due to tire issues only 6 drivers started the race. The Sauber team chose not to participate. The helmet was then used again during the Italian GP in Imola, Italy.
The helmet shoes nice wear and use with a number of small marks and chips on the front of the helmet and has been photo-matched to Jacques sitting in the car waiting for a practice session to start at the Italian GP, the sticker placement as well as radio clips on the helmet match up to the photo. As well there is a photo on him during practice for the USGP where is wearing the same style helmet.
The helmet is from Jacques Villeneuve’s personal collection and will come with his signed LOA.
