Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/3/2015
The 1970 Memorial Cup was the 52nd time the tournament was held, and that year saw the Montreal Jr. Canadiens of the OHA defeat the SJHL’s Weyburn Red Wings. This 1970 Memorial Cup Championship ring was presented to Bob Guindon. Size 8 1/2 with an approximate weight of 10 grams, "10K" has been stamped on the inside band with a beautiful large centralized red stone surrounded by “Memorial Cup Champions”. Both shanks feature an image of the Memorial Cup with inserted “CAHA”, with “19” on the right side and “70” on the opposite. As far as condition, the ring has some dirt in small grooves along with some wear including a small notch on the inside band near the mounting. While it’s hard to tell, the band itself also appears to have very slightly lost it’s true circular shape, but this is just mentioned for complete accuracy and it in no way diminishes it’s aesthetic value whatsoever. According to the accompanying LOA, this ring was given to Guindon’s girlfriend as he already had a Memorial Cup ring from the previous season.
