Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/3/2015
With prior time spent in both the NHL and AHL with the Kings, Flyers and Quebec Aces, Serge Bernier’s last 8 seasons were played with the Nordiques including 1976-77, where Quebec’s victories over New England, Indianapolis and Winnipeg gave them their first and only Avco Cup win. This personal miniature of the Avco World Trophy presented to Bernier is just under 13” high and features a silver-plated bowl atop a Lucite section containing a pewter globe of the world. An engraved metal plaque on the front has Bernier’s name while he and his teammates’ names are inscribed on another on the opposite side. A third plate reads “Presented to the Nordiques de Quebec - World Champions - 1976-77.” Produced by Balfour with their sticker on the underside, the trophy is in very good condition with a large amount of tarnishing to the silver-plated sections throughout. An LOA from 2003 will come with this important WHA Avco trophy.
