Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/3/2015
The late, great Jean Beliveau’s beautiful blue marker autograph graces each of these 50 limited-edition 21 1/2" x 16” lithographs from an original painting by Quebec artist Bernard Pelletier. All of the autographs were obtained at a private signing at Mr. Beliveau's home in 2001. Each signature has a blue marker annotation handwritten by Big Jean, including 45 prints with “507” below his signature to commemorate the 507 goals he scored during his Hall of Fame career with the Montreal Canadiens. There are also five signed prints with Beliveau’s “Art Ross + MVP 1955-56” annotation. Anytime a goal allowed Mr. Béliveau to either reach a career milestone or was scored in a season during which he won an individual award, such as the Art Ross Trophy or the Hart Trophy, this type of annotation was added to the signature making it historically unique and a collectible by itself. All 50 prints have been signed and numbered in pencil by the artist. Wonderfully preserved with only a faint crease on the upper left corner of the prints, a great opportunity!
The “507” prints included here are numbers 12-56 of 507; the “Art Ross + MVP 1955-56” prints are numbers 98-99 and 101-03 of 507. Comes with a copy of letter detailing the private signing.
